PLAYER ETIQUETTE

Players waiting for booked courts:

Wait outside the fenced court area until your court time. You may signal to the court occupants when they have 2-5 minutes of court time left.
Enter via the nearest gate, wait until points are completed before walking behind players on an active court - walk along the back of the court.
When entering/leaving the courts, respect any matches that are in progress on other courts and enter/leave the courts quickly when a game has ended, or when there is a suitable break in play.

Players whose booked court time is over:

Vacant/un-booked courts:

Players already playing on an un-booked court have first right to play-on.
If there are multiple players for an un-booked court, players shall discuss and amicably resolve who will have it.
1. A member who has already had two booked courts that day should allow the member with only one booked court that day to take the unbooked court.

On-court courtesy - ball control and management:

Do not retrieve your ball from the other court. The players from the other court will return your ball when a break in their play occurs. However, if the ball is in a dangerous position, ALERT THE PLAYERS IMMEDIATELY!
If a ball rolls onto your court, return it as soon as is practical by directing it to one of the players so that it reaches him/her on the bounce. Do not flip it back without caring where it goes.
Do not return a ball to an adjoining court while they are playing. Wait until they have finished the rally to return their ball or carefully roll the ball to the fence behind their court, safely and in a non-distracting manner.
If a ball rolls onto your court in the middle of a point, call a "Let" and replay your point.
NEVER run onto the other court to retrieve your ball. Wait until play stops before asking for your ball.
When receiving serves, don't hit balls that are clearly out.

On-court courtesy - behaviour:

Mute mobile phones and avoid cell phone usage on the courts.
Keep your voice down and confined to your court as much as possible so as not to disrupt players on adjacent court(s).
No profanity.
You may move at all times, but do not wave your racquet or arms or otherwise attempt to distract your opponent.
Be certain the receiver is ready before serving.
Avoid arguments of any kind.
Dangerous or violent racquet or ball throwing, abusive language or behaviour will not be tolerated. Correct behaviour should be displayed at all times.

On-court courtesy - game etiquette and calling lines:

Call the lines fairly and generously. If you cannot obviously call the ball "out", the ball is "in" or, to put it another way, a ball that is 1% on the line is 100% in. A player calls the lines on their side of the net. If there is doubt (e.g.: a doubles team disagrees with each other or a singles player is not sure of the call), then the call must be resolved in favour of the opponent.
Make calls of "let" or "out" immediately.
Don't protest or question opponent's calls, either by speech or by manner.
Always clearly signal "out" balls even if you see them as obviously out. It may not be so obvious to your opponent and eliminates any possibility of misunderstanding.
Never call "good" or "in" during a rally. Say nothing unless the ball is out.

General KTC etiquette:

No more than four (4) players are allowed on the court at any time.
Appropriate tennis attire and shoes are required. Blue jeans, cut-offs and muscle shirts (or no shirt) are not permitted. Only non-marking tennis shoes are allowed.
Please observe common rules of tennis etiquette.
Smoking is not permitted.
Children must not be left unsupervised on the premises.
No food/drink (except water/sport drinks/energy bars) on the courts.
Court curtains on courts 4 and 5 may be closed for players wanting a contained court.
Players should book courts 4 or 5 if playing with a player that hits a lot of stray balls.
